Tired of trendy brunch spots? Head north on the red line to Chicago's Uptown neighbourhood and exit at Argyle. Walk a few blocks east to find Tweet, a neighbourhood​ gem that's served the area for decades. Owned by Michelle Fire, Tweet has an eclectic menu hitting cuisine as diverse as Mexican (big fat breakfast burritos, chilaquiles and corn arepas) and Danish (aebelskiver), alongside traditional brunchy items. They have served fresh, organic and vegetarian ingredients long before it became buzzy. And if you encounter a long wait, which you will, don't fret: Pop into the adjoining Big Chicks bar, grab a cup of free coffee or get a spicy Bloody Mary (I like mine with sriracha) and take in Fire's acclaimed collection of outsider art.
