I have always loved Korean food but thought it was only limited to bbq. Didn’t know there was so much more to Korean food until Jungsik. And have never seen or tasted such an exquisite meal from start to finish, hands down the best tasting menu ever. It was beyond a delicious meal. It was creative, luxurious, authentic yet next-level foods. We were blown away.

Saga is located on the 63rd floor of the Art Deco building at 70 Pine Street, with Crown Shy at the street level. The view from the restaurant is for sure one of the best in NYC and there’s a beautiful cocktail bar and an outdoor terrace. James Kent’s menu is a spectacular multi course seasonal tasting menu that they change quite often.

Another power couple I think are doing amazing stuff is Ellia and JP Park. They've been very brave to go outside Korea and start a little restaurant empire in New York and what they've achieved has not been easy. The flavors and everything else is perfect in their restaurant. I really believe they are one-of-a-kind.

Estela in Nolita has been open for almost 10 years, but it’s still one of my favorites on the New York dining scene. The kitchen, led by Ignacio Mattos, is doing amazing small dishes, kind of tapas style. It's well executed, thoughtful and looks very simple, but there's so many different flavors and textures going on in the same dish. And also a really good wine list, and the vibe is great. I would always order the endive salad and also the beef tartare with sunchokes is amazing.

But my personal favorite sushi spot in New York is Shion 69 Leonard Street. It has the style of a typical Japanese sushiya and is run by chef Shion Uino. One of his specialties is uni tastings, where he, depending on the season, serves 3-4 different types of sea urchins that he’s sourcing from Japan or from Maine or the West coast. The tasting is amazing.
Crown Shy is a modern American restaurant located on the ground floor of an Art Deco tower in New York’s Financial District.
