The iconic bar counter with the best of Swedish husmanskost - comfort food. There’s meatballs and there’s meatballs. In a part of the world where in this case the so called Swedish meatballs are eaten in every possible form, place and situation, it’s a joy finding perfection of this dish. As so often, the hardest part in a great dish is skipping things. At the ”backpocket” of fancy Operakällaren in Stockholm, there is a marble counter with an open kitchen with a short menu featuring the best of Swedish husmanskost - call it home cooking or comfort food. Perfectly browned meatballs, a well balanced cream gravy, buttered mashed potatoes and coarsely mixed whole lingonberries. Start with a crispy fried potato ”råraka” with vendace roe from Kalix, sour cream and onion or the classic toast Skagen shrimp toast. Have a cold beer and a shot of aquavit.
