Expert recommendation

Pad krapao - literally fried holy basil, is one of the main staples and probably the most common one-plate lunch in all of Bangkok. It is a super simple dish, basically meat of your choice, garlic, chilies, seasonings and a large pinch of holy basil. Sometimes shallots or snake-beans are added. Yet for some reason it is very hard to find a decent version of this in Europe. This place has been cooking the same classic dishes for ages and it shows in the cooking. Nothing is out of the ordinary and everything is just right. The egg is crispy fried on the edges while runny in the middle. The stir-fry is spicy, garlicky and seasoned just right. A perfect breakfast/lunch and conveniently located.
